The M.E. Society of America has denounced the new 2007 CDC diagnostic guidelines for
so-called "CFS."
The Society has updated their Web site to reflect their disapproval and rejection of the 'operationalized' definition that includes fatigue and excludes neurological, circulatory, cardiac and other pathologies representative of M.E. The changes also reflect that the Society does not represent or advocate for patients claiming to have fatigue without these other pathologies. The Society also does not publicize articles referring to the questionable illness constructs 'termed functional somatic syndromes'.
The Society's updated home page can be viewed at http://www.cfids-cab.org./MESA . They have also added numerous updates to their subset pages and Cardiac Insufficiency Hypothesis page at
http://www.cfids-cab.org/MESA/subsets.html and
http://www.cfids-cab.org/MESA/Lerner.html .
