ME/CFS Society of WA: Tests

Print Page:
Research and clinical experience has revealed an abundance of abnormal laboratory findings in people with the disease (see Research) albeit no single definitive test or biomarker by which it can be identified or diagnosed.

The first step is to compare and positively match a persons symptoms with those found in the case definition (see Symptoms). Next clinicians will use a number of laboratory tests to rule out other similar diseases and conditions.

C
linicians with particular experience in the diagnosis and treatment of ME/CFS may also use a variety of laboratory and other tests to aid diagnosis and subsequently guide their treatment.
